Netflix’s adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events books has been in the works for quite some time, but recent casting news reveals that Barry Sonnenfield’s series seems to be moving into production. Earlier this month, Neil Patrick Harris announced on Twitter that he would be playing Count Olaf; now, Deadline reports that the series has cast two of its three Baudelaire orphans.
Harris, who seems to delight in portraying everyone from The Riddler to Captain Hook every Halloween, should have a lot of fun as the eccentric, unhygienic, unibrowed Count Olaf, a role played by Jim Carrey in the 2004 film. Harris tweeted:
I’m excitedish to portray Count Olaf – its spending all day with those three horrible child actors that will be a challenge. #sneer #shudder

Two of those “horrible child actors” are Malina Weissman, who plays young Kara on CBS’ Supergirl, and newcomer Louis Hynes.
No word yet on release date.
